Jerilyn Nakagawa is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Practicum Intern who feels passionate about supporting individuals through emotional healing, and values a compassionate, client-centered approach. Jerilyn is particularly interested in working with individuals navigating relationship stress, anxiety, and life transitions. She strives to interact in a calm, nonjudgmental manner so clients can feel seen and understood.
Before starting school to become a therapist, Jerilyn was a stay-at-home mom for 12 years. She also navigated personal mental health struggles during that time. This started her on a path to seeking help from trusted therapists to process difficult childhood experiences. Through this personal work, Jerilyn discovered what it means to have a kind and compassionate person be a witness to your experiences and feel understood when expressing how you were impacted by them.
Outside of counseling, Jerilyn enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, running, and baking.
