Meet Alumita

Alumita Young

Therapist

Alumita offers calm, collaborative therapy for adults navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, chronic illness, identity, and cultural stress.

Alumita is a compassionate and down-to-earth therapist who helps adults navigate life's challenges, whether that means managing stress and anxiety, adjusting to a new diagnosis, or finding healing after loss and major life changes. She is licensed in both Utah and California, providing a safe and supportive space for clients to explore what's happening beneath the surface and discover where healing can begin.

Her approach is collaborative, flexible, and deeply rooted in compassion. Alumita is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and certified in Brainspotting, blending evidence-based practices with a warm, client-centered style. She tailors each session to meet clients exactly where they are, helping them gain clarity, build emotional resilience, and move forward with strength and balance.

Before becoming a therapist, Alumita worked for over ten years as a medical social worker and at a county behavioral health center, where she supported individuals and families through complex medical, emotional, and life transitions. These experiences strengthened her belief that healing happens through connection, understanding, and genuine care.

Born and raised in Fiji, Alumita represented her country in a competitive sport before moving to the U.S. She later played rugby for Brigham Young University and spent a year and a half living in Australia, experiences that shaped her global perspective and deep respect for cultural diversity. Proudly rooted in her Polynesian heritage, she brings warmth, humor, and authenticity into her work and relationships.

Outside the therapy room, Alumita has been married for 15 years and is a proud mom to two teenagers. She enjoys reggae music, traveling, exercising, watching movies, and spending time with her family, things that keep her grounded and joyful.

In therapy, clients describe Alumita as calm, intuitive, and genuinely caring. She believes in creating a space where you feel truly seen and supported while working together toward realistic, meaningful goals. With compassion and practical strategies, she helps clients find clarity, confidence, and peace, even in life's most difficult moments.
